A Niceville, Fla., man was killed Friday when his four wheeler fell over on top of him at a Covington County hunting camp.

Sheriff Dennis Meeks said the man, Ben Porter, 62, was reported to have gone out at approximately 11:30 a.m. to check some locations for hunting later in the day.

Meeks said other members of the hunting camp were unable to locate the man and requested assistance.

“He had gone off into a big hole, like a wash out, and the four wheeler fell over on top of him and pinned him underneath,” Meeks said. “It was a big, heavy four wheeler.”

The hunting land is located on the south side of County Road 70, what people call Heath to River Falls Road, Meeks said.

“It was just a bad accident,” Meeks said.

Meeks did not say how the man had been killed, other than the four wheeler had caused it after it fell.
