Covington County’s Distinguished Young Woman for 2015, Alli Yant, was recognized Thursday when her diary entry was published by AL.com.

AL.com and The Press-Register ask contestants in the Alabama Distinguished Young Woman competition to submit diary entries throughout the competition. The best entry of the day is published online.

In her published entry, Yant wrote, “DYW isn’t just a program we pour countless hours into hoping for a little bit of scholarship money – it’s truly a sisterhood. Each wonderful young woman is more than just a number on the stage. They are (talented, passionate, intelligent, poised, healthy, ambitious, involved, responsible, studious) distinguished. If I may say so myself, Alabama will be very well represented no matter who is chosen Saturday night.”
