The T.R. Miller Lady Tigers held off the Andalusia Lady Bulldogs Saturday night in Andalusia for a 29-25 victory.

 

The Lady Tigers and Lady Bulldog were neck and neck through the first period of the game. Merikal McCaskill led the Lady Bulldogs in the first period with 4 points. Shay Thomas and Aaliyah Lawrence each chipped in 2 points. The game was tied up at 8-8 at the end of one.

 

The game went back and forth in the second period, and remained tied 14-14 heading into halftime. Destene Shakespeare had 4 points in the second period, and Aaliyah accounted for 2 more points for the Lady Bullogs.

 

The Lady Bulldogs continued to fight hard, but trailed 22-20 heading into the final period of play. Aaliyah went 2-for-3 from the free throw line, and also hit a basket from the floor. Alexis Lawrence had 2 points in third after a 2-for-2 trip to the line.

 

The Lady Tigers remained in the lead for the rest of the game, and took a 29-25 victory over the Lady Bulldogs. Aaliyah had 4 more points, and Thomas added 1 point for the Lady Bulldogs.

 

Aaliyah led the Bulldogs with 12 points. McCaskill and Shakespeare had 4 points each. Thomas finished with 3 points, and Alexis tallied 2 points.

 

“We played well enough to win,” Lady Bulldogs’ head coach Brad Garner said. “It’s very frustrating to lose a close one like that. When you hold someone to 29 points you should be able to win, but we made too many mistakes.”
