ARISE to help locals with Affordable Care Act Saturday

For those who are interested in the Affordable Health Care Act, but need help getting enrolled, members of the Alabama ARISE staff will be at the New Pilgrim Baptist Church in River Falls Saturday morning at 10.
Dollie Hambrick, healthcare outreach coordinator for Alabama ARISE, said the event was targeted for Covington County after an analysis showed low local enrollment in the insurance program.
ARISE statistics show Alabama has increased its health insurance enrollments under the ACA from nearly 98,000 in 2014 to nearly 138,000 through Jan. 23, 2015. Open enrollment ends Feb. 15.
“We will have people there who will be able to enroll folk if they have what they need,” Hambrick said. “If they fall in the gap (can’t afford the program, but earn too much to qualify for Medicaid), we’ll have information on federal qualifying health centers.”
Hambrick said those who come should bring their Social Security information, and should also have an idea of the income and dependents reported on their tax returns.
No payment is required to enroll, she said, although participants need to have an idea of how they will pay for the coverage.
