Women’s expo is Saturday

This weekend’s second annual Women’s Expo offers opportunities for women who are interested in improving their physical health, or who need a mental health break with the girls.

The event, sponsored by Andalusia Regional Hospital’s Women’s Advisory Board, showcases local businesses, and encourages women to take time to put themselves first. The expo features shopping with more than 40 vendors, three fashion shows, goody bags and boxed lunches for the first 250 people, and free health screenings.

“We are excited to showcase much of what is available locally,” said Valerie McCalman, marketing coordinator for ARH. “This effort began as a way to highlight health care services available locally, and quickly expanded to also show off the many other services Andalusia has for women.”

Staff members of ARH will provide free blood pressure and glucose screenings, and will calculate body mass index (BMI), as well as answer questions. Cardiologist Dr. Greg Price, who established his practice in Andalusia in the last year, also will be on hand to answer questions.

Entertainment includes fashion shows at 10:30, 11, noon and 12:30, and guest speaker Nancy Dove, a senior sales director for Mary Kay.

There are a number of door prizes available, but women must be present to win.

Vendors include: A Rose Boutique, All is Well Health and Inspirations, Andalusia Chronic Pain Support Group, ARH lab, ARH radiology, Avon, Barrow’s Furniture, CareMed, Central Wholesale, Comfort Care Hospice, Covington OBGYN, Crossfit Andalusia, Elan, Harold’s Furniture and Flooring, Heart Institute of Andalusia, It Works!, Jeff and LaQuetta Grimes, Jeri Peacock Jams and Jellies, Kipco, Lena Ellen Boutique, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Meredith’s Miracles, Michele Bende Photography, Millcreek Monogramming, Oasis Spa and Salon, Opulent, Beauty, Paparazzi Jewelry, Plexus, Qivana, Quilts by Two Sisters, Rodan + Fields, Salon Utopia, Sanders Fine Jewelry, Sharyn Smith State Farm Insurance, Sister Schubert, Something Homemade, Southern Occasions, Sporting Lifestyles, Taby D’s Christian Book and Gift, The Alabama Soap Lady, The Grand Salon, The Lemon Tree Stitchery, The Silver Locket, Thirty-One, Town and Country, Tupperware, Usborn Books, Utopia Salon and Spa, Vicki Popwell Photography, Walker Business, and Younique.
