Andalusia junior guard Jacob Cauley made a game-winning bucket as time expired to defeat the visiting Pike County Bulldogs 52-50 on Senior Night.

Cauley caught a perfect pass from fellow guard Alex Taylor in midair and shot the ball all in one motion just beating the buzzer for two points in the win.

Missed free throws almost proved costly for the Andalusia Bulldogs (11-13) missing four in the final minutes. Pike County (10-12) took advantage of the missed shots when Chauncey Clay grabbed a rebound and Tobias Lee hit for two on the other end of the court for a 50-48 lead with 30 seconds left in regulation.

Cauley knotted the score at 50-50 with a 12-foot jumper with 10 seconds left.

Pike County had the inbounds pass tipped away in front of their bench with 2.3 seconds left to play. Andalusia attempted a full-court inbounds pass and it was tipped out of bounds by a Pike County player with 1.9 seconds left in the game.

Andalusia eventually inbounded the ball with less than two seconds left to play. The ball went to Cauley and he made the winning shot.

Once the shot fell and the horn sounded, Andalusia fans who rushed the court in celebration engulfed Cauley.

Josh Johnson was the leading scorer for Andalusia with 16 points. O’Darius James had 14, Chris Cotton scored 9 points. Jacob Cauley ended the game with 8 points, Michael Berry added 4 points. William Alverson added 1 point.

Moses Griffin and Jeremy Foster had 12 points each for the Pike County.

In the girls’ game, Andalusia (16-7) went on top early and never looked back en route to a 68-30 victory.

Ashley Johnson almost outscored Pike County by herself with 25 points. Chelsea Carlson and Jermecia McNeil dominated the paint with 10 points each. Rachel Jones, Jamie Holmes, Jamila Couch, Whitney Leslie and Brianna Cross also scored.

Sunshine Baker had 7 points for Pike County.

Andalusia won the B-team game by a final count of 55-47 with Justin Sims and Andrew McTyere leading the way. Sims had 15 points in the victory. McTyere added 13 points. T.J. Crittenden scored 11 points.

Also scoring for Andalusia were Martin Watson, Terrell Curry, Anthony Lynn and Tyler Centner.
