Residents going to the Opp City Hall will soon have to enter through a metal detector.

The Opp City Council on Monday voted to purchase a metal detector for the front door of city hall.

Mayor John Bartholomew said it was for the safety of the employees.

Additionally, no one will enter city hall through the back door, with the exception of those who need handicap access.

The metal detector will be similar to the one at the Covington County Courthouse.
