Local karate kids win big

The Andalusia Isshinryu Karate recently sent five students to compete in the International Karate Circuit’s, IKC Challenge Martial Arts Championships in Phenix City, and all five placed in every division.

 

Landon Caldwell and Konnor Owens each earned triple crown honors with three first place finishes. The group finished with eight first place finishers out of a total of 15 divisions. Each student competed in kata, weapons and fighting divisions, with the following results:

 

Konnor Owens- 1st place, green belt fighting, 1st place, green belt kata, 1st place, green belt weapons.

 

Landon Caldwell- 1st place, green belt fighting, 1st place, green belt kata, 1st place, green belt weapons.

 

Kila Owens- 1st place, green belt fighting, 1st place, green belt kata, 2nd place, green belt weapons.

 

Dalton Spears- 2nd place, brown belt fighting, 4th place, brown belt kata, 4th place, brown belt weapons.

 

Sarah Williams- 2nd place, green belt fighting, 3rd place, green belt kata, 2nd place, green belt weapons.
