VIRGINIA A. JAMES

Virginia A. James, age 75, of Andalusia, passed away on Sun., March 1, 2015, at Andalusia Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Thurs., March 5, 2015, in the Keahey Funeral Home Chapel.

The Rev. Jay Driver will officiate.

Survivors include sons, Rodney (Wendy) James of Andalusia, Dwayne (Gigi) James of Andalusia and Jesse (Frankie) James of Andalusia; daughter, Debbie James (Mike) Vanmeter of Andalusia; brothers, Rocky (Penny) Maness of Chiefland, Fla., Larry (Nancy) Maness of Myakka City, Fla. and Billy (Sandy) Maness of Bradenton, Fla.; sister, Barbara (Bobby) Chumney of Andalusia; grandchildren, Cody James, Quinton James, Brent James, Dalton James, Tanner James and Kaitlinne James; and great grandchildren, Virginia Shelby James and Carson Lee James.

Mrs. James founded the James Gang Amusement Company in 1992.

With that extensively traveled business, she functioned as the primary operator for many years, managing a large number of employees, many times family and friends.

She also founded James Gang Horses, a seller of registered quarter horses and registered paints and has received many state and national recognitions for her quality horses. She founded Touch of Country Western Store in 1985, again starting another successful family business under her foresight and leadership.

She was a great humanitarian and lover of animals. Among all her special animals on her farm, she leaves behind her most special, three Australian Shepherds, Frank James, Daisy James and Roper James.

 

Jewel Earnestine Gunter

Mrs. Jewel Earnestine Gunter, age 96, of Andalusia, died on Mon., March 2, 2015, in Andalusia Manor. Funeral services will be held today, Wed., March 4, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. from River Falls Baptist Church with Brother William Sunday officiating. Interment will follow in River Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to services at the church.

Mrs. Gunter is survived by a daughter, Judy Capps of River Falls; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Cynthia Gunter and Larry and Patricia Gunter, all of River Falls; grandchildren, Ronnie (Lynn) Capps of Gantt, Randy (Tammy) Capps of Andalusia, Dan Capps of River Falls, Jason (Candice) Gunter of Andalusia, Stephen Gunter of Montgomery, Carrie (Jay) Henegar of Enterprise and Josh (Claudia) Gunter of Enterprise; great grandchildren, Cory Smith, CJ Capps, Brian Capps, Morgan Capps, Layla Gunter, John David Gunter, Jules Henegar, Mary Henegar, Jullian Gunter and James Gunter; great-great grandchildren, Brayden Capps, Bethany Capps and Brody Capps; sisters, Pluma Moore of River Falls and Lytress Allen of Monticello, Miss.; brother, Bertram Pierce of Andalusia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Felma Hassell Schrimshire

Mrs. Felma Hassell Schrimshire, age 104, of Andalusia, passed away Sun., March 1, 2015, in the Andalusia Hospital.

Funeral services were held on March 3rd at the Mobley Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Powell officiating. Interment followed in Smith Cemetery. Foreman Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

She is survived by her sisters, Mildred Hart and Janet Feagin, both of Andalusia; her nephews and their wives, Jack and Janice Hart, Roy and Kathy Hart, Michael and June Walker, and Wyatt and Diane Feagin; a niece and her husband, Nanette and Greg Beck; and several great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were David Knowles, Glenn Knowles, James Knowles, William Knowles, Gordon Knowles and Hilton Godwin.

Anne F. Pitts

Mrs. Anne F. Pitts, age 82, of River Falls, passed away on Sun., March 1, 2015, in the Opp nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wed., March 3, 2015, at River Falls Baptist Church. Interment will follow in River Falls Cemetery.

Mrs. Pitts is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Leah Pitts Doyle (Ron) of Waverly Hall, Ga. and Miska Pitts Dembowski (Philip) of Loxley; grandchildren, Patrick Dembowski, Mitchell Dembowski, JoAnna Dembowski, and Rory Dembowski, all of Loxley; nephews, Ray Fendley of Milton, Fla., Eric Fendley of Huntsville; and neice, Debra Tichnor of Pensacola.

 

Seretha “CeCe” Gwendolyn Katauskas

Ms. Seretha “CeCe” Gwendolyn Katauskas, age 69, of Andalusia, formerly of Kinston, passed away on Fri., Feb. 27, 2015, at home surrounded by loved ones after a short battle with cancer.

Funeral services were held on Tues., March 3, 2015, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel, where Brother Ray Miles officiated. Interment followed in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Heath.

Ms. Katauskas is survived by her children, Clint (Michelle) Letch of Minnesota, Michael Pittman (Holly Joiner) of Andalusia, Yvette Katauskas Regan of Kinston and Chris Katauskas (Jesika Carnley) of Kinston; sister, Patricia Felts of Heath; former husband, James (Paula) Katauskas of Kinston; companion, Wayne Hataway of Kinston; daughter-in-law, Tary Glaum of Illinois; son-in-law, Derick (Kelly) Regan of Kinston; 24 grandchildren; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her son, Dean Glaum of Illinois; and her parents, Merlyn and Lillie Garlick.

CeCe recently retired from Shaw Industries in July 2014. Shortly thereafter, she was diagnosed with breast and lung cancer. For many years, she was a member of Opp VFW Ladies Auxillary and served to include president. In her spare time, she enjoyed bingo and casino time with friends and family, watching two of her grandsons, Mikey and Brian Regan, play football as well as watching her other grandchildren grow up. Seretha was always well spoken, polite and kind hearted. She will be greatly missed by her family and loved ones.

Pallbearers included: Michael Pittman, Chris Katauskas, James Katauskas, Lee Miles, Clay Segers, Billy Powell and Stan Taylor.
