Lady Tigers top Brantley

The Straughn Lady Tigers picked up win No. 5 Thursday night with a 4-1 home-victory over the Brantley Lady Bulldogs.

 

The Lady Tigers looked like they might have been in for a long night as Brantley’s starting pitcher struck out the side to start off contest.

 

The Lady Tigers managed one hit in the first three innings before they broke onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth.

 

Stewart started off the bottom of the fourth inning with a walk, and then was moved around to third on sacrifice from Jacie Williamson.

 

The Lady Tigers plated their first run of the contest when Paige Taylor connected with pitch, and roped it into center for an RBI double.

 

The Lady Tigers took control of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning with three runs scored.

 

Willis singled to start the inning, and then Gantt reached on an error.

 

The Lady Tigers loaded the bases with one out when Stewart reached on an infield single.

 

Williamson then reached on error that allowed Gantt and Katelyn Kinsaul to come around to score.

 

Williamson then stole second, and scored on a throwing error from the Lady Bulldogs’ shortstop.

 

The Lady Bulldogs finally got a run on the board in the top of the sixth inning when a Lady Bulldog was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded with only one out.

 

They Lady Tigers fought hard and escaped the sixth without any further damage.

 

The Lady Tigers almost started a rally with two outs in the bottom of the sixth, but failed to get a run across.

 

Heading into the final inning, the Lady Tigers were on top 4-1.

 

The Lady Tigers got the final three outs of the ball game to secure at 4-1 victory.

 

The Lady Tigers will be back in action this weekend when they participate in the Prattville Christian Academy softball tournament.
