Tunnel house workshop set for Friday

Members of the Wiregrass RC&D, Tuskegee University, Alabama Clean Water Partnership and the Covington County Soil and Water Conservation District were busy this week putting together a wooden tunnel house at a home on South Cotton Street.

Annetta Riley, who is one of the homeowners, said the tunnel house is for a local veteran to whom the Rileys have leased a small portion of land to for the project.

Tunnel houses provide season-extending protection for plants and vegetables.

An outreach demonstration and workshop will be held tomorrow from 10 a.m. until noon at 722 South Cotton St.
