Andalusia Isshinryu Karate picked up 11 1st place finishes

Eight members of Andalusia Isshinryu Karate competed in the USYKA Ryuken Classic Karate tournament at Carver High School in Montgomery on March 14th. Competitors competed in weapons, forms, and fighting divisions for their age and belt rank.

 

 

 

Andalusia students made a strong showing, with a total of eleven first place finishes.

 

 

 

Andalusia black belt Phillip Martin from Nashville, Tenn. won the Adult Black Belt Forms and Weapons Grand Championship.

 

 

 

Landon Caldwell also won three first places to lead the Andalusia group.

Phillip Martin- 1st place, Men’s black belt weapons. 1st place, Men’s black belt kata. 3rd place, Men’s light weight black belt fighting. Adult Black Belt Forms and Weapons Grand Champion.

 

 

 

Landon Caldwell- 1st place, green belt weapons. 1st place, green belt kata. 1st place, green belt fighting.

 

 

 

Taj Patel- 1st place, black belt musical forms. 3rd place, black belt weapons. 3rd place, black belt kata. 3rd place, black belt fighting.

 

 

 

Dalton Spears- 2nd place, brown belt weapons. 2nd place, brown belt kata. 1st place, brown belt fighting. 3rd place, below black belt musical forms.

 

 

 

Dixon Fite- 2nd place, yellow belt kata. 3rd place, yellow belt fighting.

 

 

 

Sarah Williams- 1st place, green belt kata.

 

 

 

Kila Owens- 1st place, green belt weapons. 2nd place, green belt kata. 2nd place, green belt fighting.

 

 

 

Konner Owens- 1st place, green belt weapons. 1st place, green belt kata. 3rd place, green belt fighting.
