Lady Bulldogs winless at KLD

Andalusia fell two games and finished without a win in Straughn’s Kirsten L. Dean softball tournament with a 4-0 loss to LAMP and a 3-1 loss to Pleasant Home on Saturday.

 

It was a quick start for the LAMP offense as they scored three runs in the first inning to put the Lady Bulldogs in a hole from the start.

 

With two outs in the bottom of the first, Hannah Lockwood drove in two runs with a double to put LAMP up, 3-0.

 

Merikal McCaskill led off the top of the second with a single to right field, but the next three Lady Bulldogs were sat down on strikes.

 

AHS got another runner in the top of the fourth when Emily Terry singled to left field, but the Lady Bulldogs were unable to move her past second.

 

LAMP plated its final run of the contest in the top of the fifth after a leadoff triple and a single plated the runner.

 

With the loss the, Lady Bulldogs finished 0-3 in round robin play.

 

In the second game of the day for the Lady Bulldogs, PHS jumped out front in the bottom of the second inning.

 

Cassidy Godwin drew a walk to start the inning, and Bella Worley singled to center field that brought Godwin around to score from second for the game’s first run.

 

Abby Walker and Camille Holley followed with singles to load the bases for the Lady Eagles.

 

Hope Gunter reached on an error by the second baseman, and Worley came around to score the second run of the contest.

 

Tammi Hilson drove in the Lady Eagles final run with a sacrifice to put them up 3-0 in the bottom of the second.

 

Neither team was able to get another run across until Andalusia finally broke through in the top of the sixth inning.

 

Bryant singled to start the Lady Bulldogs half of the sixth, and came around to score when Terry reached on an error.

 

Hilson and Worley each had one hit and one RBI for the Lady Eagles.

 

Tiffany Knoll picked up the win on the mound for the Lady Eagles.

 

With the win, the Lady Eagles were 2-2, and finished in third place in Straughn’s KLD softball tournament.

 

With the loss, the Lady Bulldogs were 0-4, and finished in last place.
