The Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo 5K Run/Walk has extended the pre-registration date until Monday, and there are still a few open spots to be guaranteed a t-shirt and an armband to the Rattlesnake Rodeo.

“This is going to be a great event,” event coordinator Gary Strickland said. “We have got some awesome shirts. It will be worth a trip to Opp just for the shirt.”

Strickland said that there are around 150 runners pre-registered, and that the first 200 total to pre-register will be given a t-shirt and an armband for Saturday’s events and concert at the rodeo.

Pre-registration was scheduled to end on April 1, but Strickland said they have extended the date through Monday. The race will be held on April 11.

Along with the t-shirt and armband, those who pre-register will save $5 off the race-day entry fee of $30.

The race will begin at 9 a.m., at Opp High School, and winds through the scenic streets off downtown Opp before finishing back at the high school.

There will be a $50 prize for the first-place overall male and female runners, and a $20 prize for the first-place overall male and female walkers. The top five walkers will all receive some type of award.

There will also be a $50 given out for male and female grand masters in the run, as well as awards for the different age groups. The age groups start at 9 years-and-under, and there will be awards given to the top three runners from each category.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Bobcat Booster Club.

Pre-registration is available online at www.active.com.
