Andalusia falls to Ashford, Headland

Andalusia took early leads against Ashford and Headland, but fell 5-4 to the Lady Yellow Jackets and 7-3 to the Lady Rams Monday at home.

 

In game one against Ashford, the Lady Yellow Jackets got on the board first in the top of the opening inning for a 2-0 lead early.

 

The Lady Bulldogs battled back in the bottom of the first, and took a 3-2 lead into the second inning.

 

Haley Harper singled with one out, and Emily Terry reached after being hit by a pitch.

 

Merikal McCaskill put the Lady Bulldogs on the board with a one-out single that plated Harper second.

 

Millie Manring gave the Lady Bulldogs a 3-2 lead with a two-out single to center that scored Terry and McCaskill.

 

Ashford went up 4-3 in the top of the third off two errors, a walk and a hit.

 

The Lady Yellow Jackets added one more run in the top of the sixth inning to go up 5-3.

 

Terry helped cut the lead to one in the bottom of the seventh inning with a RBI double, but the Lady Bulldogs were unable to get the tying run in.

 

In game two against HHS, the Lady Rams got a run across in the top of the first to take an early lead.

 

In the bottom of the first, the Lady Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead off a run scoring single from McCaskill, and when Harper scored on error by the Lady Rams.

 

The Lady Bulldogs extended their lead in the bottom of the second when Haley Snider drove in a run off an error.

 

HHS took the lead back in the top of the fourth inning, and never let the Lady Bulldogs back in the contest.

 

The Lady Rams plated four runs on four hits, an error and a walk to take a 6-3 advantage.

 

The Lady Rams added its final run in the top of the seventh inning.

 

“We didn’t play terrible,” Lady Bulldogs’ coach Anthony Mikel said. “We just made some costly errors, but we are young and we know we are going to make those kinds of errors some times. I saw some good things out there today. Now, we just have to put it all together.”
