Fellow pickers and musicians have banded together to put on a benefit for Harold Stricklin, which will be held today at the Lockhart Fire Department.

Stricklin lost his leg to diabetes and needs help paying for a prosthetic leg and other medical bills.

To help pay for these necessities, fellow musician and benefit coordinator Marvin Williford said that barbecue pork and chicken plates, along with hot dog plates, will be sold at $8 each from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. today.

“He’s a good musician,” Williford said about Stricklin. “He’s always helped us with other benefits. He’s always been good about coming and setting up things.”

All of the food will be provided by Little Smokehouse of Florala. Included in the plates will be baked beans, cole slaw and cornbread.

Additionally, there will be several bands providing music at the benefit. They include The Forever Young Band, River Chase, The Road Dusters and others.

“We’d like to encourage everybody to come out and help raise us much as we can,” Williford said. “It’s going to be good quality food. They’ve all been successful, we’re looking for this one to be successful, too.”
