If one player can have a career in just one night, the Braves’ Brian Bailey did just that Wednesday night.
The Braves walloped the Pirates 21-4, an impressive feat in itself.
But Bailey’s performance surpasses impressive. Bailey sent three balls screaming over the Little League fence in his four at-bats.
He walked in his other trip.
“He’s a scrappy little ball player. He’s got a lot of metal about him,” Braves’ head coach Chick Earle said.
On this night, the “metal” Earle described above must have been his bat. Bailey’s longest shot of the night hit the bottom of the Minor League fence.
His three homers against the Pirates bring his home run total to six on the season. In an earlier game, Bailey belted two homers.
But Bailey wasn’t the only Brave on the warpath on this night.
From the mound, the team got a stellar performance from pitcher Hunter Hobson.
Hobson allowed just four hits on the night while striking out seven batters.
From the offensive standpoint, Tye Gibson, Scotty Miller and Jay Curry all came through will two hits each to lead the Braves to the win.
The win improved the Braves to 5-7 overall will three games remaining in the regular season.
The Little League has a full slate of games on tap for Thursday night.
The Brewers will take on the Red Sox in the 5:30 game while Red Level will take on the Yankees at 7:30.
