Day two of the Alabama Junior Rodeo Association at the Covington Center Arena, and the top 10 from each event are set to compete in today’s short go for the championship.

 

 

 

Eight riders roped a calf in the 6-8 grade breakaway event on Friday with Anna Kate Norton taking the top time for the second day in a row. Norton finished with a time of 2.95 seconds. Christopher Martin finished second with a time of 3.46 seconds, and Jordyn Bennett was third with a time of 4.23 seconds.

 

 

 

Points earned over the first two days were added to the riders’ season totals to determine the top 10 for today’s short-go breakaway event. First place is Nikayla Brill with 91 total points. Caitlin Tisdale is second with 77 points. Martin is third with 67.5 points. Josey Hussey is fourth with 65 points. Kade Kolmetz is fifth with 47 points. Garrett Guillot is sixth with 42 points. Norton is seventh with 40 points. Bennett is eighth with 38 points. Ashleigh Clukey is ninth with 35 points and Ashley Henderson is 10th with 26 points.

 

 

 

In the K-5 breakaway, Luci Kirkland took the top time with a speedy time of 4.90 seconds. Kirkland did this with a cast on her roping hand. Anna Grizzle was second with a time of 13.94 seconds, after being assessed with a 10-second penalty.

 

 

 

Three riders from the K-5 breakaway will compete in today’s short-go. Grizzle sits in the top spot with a season total of 58 points. Sydney Poole is second with 50 points and Kirkland is third with 30 points.

 

 

 

Guillot took the top time for the second-straight day in the 6-8 grade calf roping with a time of 36.53 seconds and Christopher Martin was second with a time of 43.76 seconds.

 

 

 

Three riders from the calf roping event will compete in today’s short-go. Guillot is in first place with 50 total season points. Martin is second with 46 points and Kade Kolmetz is third with 16 points.

 

 

 

In the 6-8 grade pole bending event, Jaden Musgrove finished with a top time of 21.838 seconds. A. Clukey finished second with a time of 22.092 seconds and Bennett was third with a time of 22.311 seconds.

 

 

 

The top 10 season points leaders in the 6-8 grade pole bending will compete in today’s short-go. Brill is in first place with 117 season points. Bennett is second with 95 points. Madison Hayek is third with 91 points. A. Clukey is fourth with 88 points. Hussey is fifth with 80 points. Amaya Buddle is sixth with 68 points. Norton is seventh with 67 points. Ashley Henderson is eighth with 62 points. Musgrove is ninth with 58 points and Tisdale is 10th with 52 points.

 

 

 

The leader from Friday’s K-5 pole bending was Ty Flemming in first with a time of 22.343 seconds. Second place was Grizzle with a time of 23.122 seconds. Hunter Clukey finished third with a time of 26.358 seconds.

 

 

 

In the team roping event, Marlee and Grey Wells teamed up for the top time of 26.86 seconds. Guillot and Tisdale finished second with a time of 56.35 seconds.

 

 

 

All three teams will compete in today’s short-go with Wells team in first with 50 season points. Kade and Kason Kolmetz are second with 39 points. Guillot and Tisdale will be third with 18 points.

 

 

 

Guillot finished first in Friday’s chute dogging event with a time of 4.37 seconds. Kade Kolmetz was second with a time of 6.28 seconds. Third place was Ellis Herronen with a time of 9.93 seconds.

 

 

 

9 chute doggers will compete in today’s short-go with Herronen sitting on top with 143 season points. Guillot is second with 108 points. Kade Kolmetz is third with 103 points. Dalton Hooper is fourth with 92 points. Cade Smith is fifth with 81 points. Martin is sixth with 70 points. Dylan Drake is seventh with 65 points. G. Wells is eighth with 49 points and Kason Kolmetz is ninth with 38 points.

 

 

 

In girls 6-8 grade goat tying on Friday, Bennett took first place with a time of 11 seconds. Bryce Corte was second with a time of 12.65 seconds and A. Clukey was third with a time of 13 seconds.

 

 

 

The top 10 season points earners will compete in today’s short-go. Tisdale is first with 156 total points. Hussey is second with 133 points. Brill and Bennett are tied for third with 127 points each. Corte is fifth with 93 points. Hayek is sixth with 75 points. A. Clukey is seventh with 66 points. Norton is eighth with 61 points. Henderson is ninth with 57 points and Musgrove is 10th with 46 points.

 

 

 

Girls K-5 goat tying winner from Friday’s go was Grizzle with a time of 11.36 seconds. Sydney Poole was second with a time of 14.16 seconds and Fleming was third with a time of 15.97 seconds.

 

 

 

All eight of the K-5 girls goat tying contestants will compete in today’s short-go. Sydney Poole is first with 173 season points. Grizzle is second with 156 points. Fleming is third with 127 points. Kirkland is fourth with 114 points. Alexis Miles is fifth with 98 points. Emma Wilkerson is sixth with 96 points. Darby Poole is seventh with 91 points and Hailey Donald is ninth with 81 points.

 

 

 

Guillot earned the top spot in Friday’s boys 6-8 grade goat tying with a time of 13.31 seconds. Martin was second with a time of 14.87 seconds and Kade Kolmetz was third with a time of 18.62 seconds.

 

 

 

Guillot hold the top spot going into today’s short-go with a season points’ total of 148. Martin is second with 142 points. G. Wells is third with 134 points.  Kade Kolmetz is fourth with 125 points and Kason Kolmetz is fifth with 88 points.

 

 

 

In Friday’s K-5 boys goat tying, Drew Clukey finished first with a time of 17.93 seconds. Austin Wise was second with a time of 30.19 seconds and Hunter Clukey was third with a time of 52.32.

 

 

 

All three will advance to today’s short-go, with D. Clukey in first with 150 season points. Wise is second with 119 points and H. Clukey is third with 101 points.

 

 

 

Brill was the top finisher in Friday’s 6-8 grade barrel racing with a time of 16.173 seconds. Corte was second with a time of 16.313 seconds and A. Clukey was third with a time of 16.331 seconds.

 

 

 

The top 10 season points earners will compete in today’s short-go event. Brill is first with 151 season points. Bennett is second with 118 points. Hayek is third with 110 points. A. Clukey is fourth with 102 points. Corte is fifth with 98 points. Tisdale is sixth with 74 points. Norton is seventh with 62 points. Kinley Braxton is eighth with 48 points. Musgrove and Natalie Weaver tied for the final two spots with 43 points each.

 

 

 

K-5 barrel racing winner for Friday’s go was Kirkland with a time of 17.067 seconds. D. Clukey was second with a time of 17.331 seconds and Grizzle was third with a time of 17.391 seconds.

 

 

 

Top 10 points earners will compete in today’s short-go. Kirkland is first with 166 total points. S. Poole is second with 140 points. Fleming and Grizzle tied for third with 115 points each. D. Clukey is fifth with 114 points. Donald is sixth with 83 points. D. Poole is seventh with 74 points. Alexis Miles is eighth with 72 points. Wilkerson is ninth with 68 points. H. Clukey is 10th with 31 points.

 

 

 

In K-5 steer riding, Nace Boswell took the top spot Friday with a score of 61.

 

 

 

Boswell and Brodie Coleman will compete in today’s short-go.

 

 

 

Kade Money made a full 8-second ride second day, and took Friday’s top score with a 71.

 

 

 

Money and Jon Christopher Bryan will compete in today’s short-go.

 

 

 

The AJRA short-go state finals will begin today at 10 a.m.
