Circumstances remain under investigation by APD

Circumstances involving a two-vehicle wreck that sent three to hospitals Monday morning are still under investigation, according to Andalusia police officials.

A dark grey Pontiac Grand Prix and a light grey Volkswagen Passat collided right in front of Video Warehouse on the West Bypass.

Andalusia Police Chief Paul Hudson said Sgt. Roger Cender came upon the wreck during his normal patrol.

“As far as I know, he was the first to call it in,” Hudson said.

Hudson confirmed that three people were injured in the wreck. The two drivers were transported to the Andalusia High School stadium parking lot, where they were then airlifted to hospitals out of state. The other person involved in the wreck was transported to a local hospital.

Once the APD and Andalusia Fire Department arrived on scene, the Jaws of Life were used to free the two people in the Pontiac.

Andalusia Assistant Chief Paul Dean said all details from the wreck haven’t been compiled, adding that he doesn’t know what caused both cars to hit each other.

Names of those involved in the wreck weren’t released as it is still under investigation.
