Tuesday night’s major crash at the intersection of Sunnyside Street and Point A Road in River Falls claimed the life of a Greenville man and injured two others.

Trooper Spokesperson Kevin Cook identified the victim as 33-year-old Daniel Ray Solomon, who was killed when the 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee collided head-on with a 2002 Nissan Altima driven by Whitney Lauryn Wright, 23, of Andalusia.

Covington County Coroner Norman Hobson pronounced Solomon dead at the scene. Solomon was not wearing a seatbelt.

A passenger in Solomon’s car and Wright were both air lifted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola for treatment of their injuries.

The crash occurred at 8:57 p.m. on Covington County 107 three miles south of River Falls.

First responders worked the scene of the accident at the intersection of Sunnyside and Point A Road until the early morning hours Wednesday.

According to the River Falls Fire Department, when they arrived on scene they requested Life Flight and extrication was initiated by the department.

Gantt Area Fire Rescue helped set up a landing zone for Life Flight and Andalusia Fire Department was called to help with a “lengthy extrication.”

A second air ambulance was needed.
