Andalusia Isshinryu finishes strong

Around 150 competitors from six states took part in the 17th annual South Alabama Karate Open Martial Arts Championship at Straughn High School on Saturday, with competitors from Andalusia taking 24 first place trophies.

 

 

 

Top honors went to the four competitors who took home the Black Belt Grand Championship in their respective divisions. Allen Butler from Andalusia Isshinryu Karate was award the Black Belt Grand Championship for the youth black belt forms.

 

 

 

Andalusia Isshinryu Karate had five students win triple crowns, which means they won weapons, kata and fighting in the same day. Triple crown winners were Butler, Landon Caldwell, Kila Owens, Konnor Owens and Dalton Spears.

 

 

 

Other first place winners were Saranel Brundidge in fighting, Renz Cedano in kata and fighting, Kaylin Fite in fighting, Phillip Martin in weapons and musical, Dev Patel in fighting, Krish Patel in fighting and Nathanael Walker in weapons.
