MILDRED COOPER TEAGUE

Mrs. Mildred Cooper Teague, of Opp, passed away on Mon., June 15, 2015, at Mizell Memorial Hospital in Opp.

Mrs. Teague was a member of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ in Opp, where elder George Martin is the minister.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Sat., June 20, 2015, at 3 p.m. at Opp Church of Christ, 901 Hart Ave., Opp, AL. Bishop N. Belcher will be officiating.

The family will receive visitors one hour prior to services at the church.

She will be remembered in love by her large family, neighbors and friends.

She is the oldest of eight children born to Mr. H.D. Carpenter and Mrs. Bessie Phillips Carpenter; and six of her siblings preceded her in death. Her lone surviving sibling, Mr. Lewis Carpenter (Myrtice), resides in Andalusia.

She is the mother of 16 children, three of which preceded her in death. She was blessed with 37 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Coleman Funeral Home of Elba is in charge of arrangements.

DOUGLAS HUIGH SIMS

Mr. Douglas Huigh Sims, 78, of Red Level, passed away on Wed., June 17, 2015.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., tomorrow, Sat., June 20, 2015, at Brooks Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Brooks Cemetery. Visitation will be today, Fri., June 19, from 5:30-8 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home. He will also lie in state 30 minutes prior to services at the church.

He was born on Sept. 9, 1936, to William Barnee and Maggie Luvina Lee Simms. He retired from International Paper as a field mechanic. He attended Brooks Baptist Church in Red Level. He was a devoted father to his three children and instilled the values of work and responsibility. He was very loyal to his family and friends, and was loved by all.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jerry Gorum of Red Level; sons and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Regina Sims of Mobile, and Carlton Sims of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; and sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Winon Corley of Gonzales, Fla.

Mr. Sims is preceded in death by his parents, William Barney and Maggie Sims; siblings, Ersel Ellington Ayers, Vera Jones, Etta Mae Ganus, Carlton “Coot” Sims, Raymond Sims, Louverne Griffin, Carrie Drouin and Alton Sims.

Pallbearers include Jeffrey Gorum, Tyler Ingram, Shep Lucas, Leray Berry, Bill Gomillion and Phil Peavy.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Project Lifesaver.

LYNN DAVID REDDISH

Lynn David Reddish, 59, of Pelham, passed away on June 12, 2015.

A memorial service will be held at Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham on Fri., June 26, 2015, at 3 p.m.

MELINDA JO MOTLEY

Mrs. Melinda Jo Motley, 51, of Wing, died on Thurs., June 18, 2015, in a Mobile hospital after an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. Motley will be held on Mon., June 22, 2015 at 11 a.m. from the Southside Baptist Church in Andalusia. Interment will be in the Wing Cemetery.

Mrs. Motley is survived by her husband, Teddy Rae Motley of Wing; two daughters and sons in law, Jennifer Motley Miller and Corey of Wing, and Pandora Motley Wells and John of Red Level; one son and daughter in law, Christopher Bryan Motley and Jeanette of Savannah, Ga; six grandchildren; her father and step mother, Joseph (Joe) Arthur and Martina Tucker of Mobile; three sisters, Pamela Coale of Wilmer, Ala., Myra Jones of Wing and Rachel Casey and Gary of Wilmer; two brothers, Ronnie and Stacy Walker and Christopher and Melinda Walker all of Saraland.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Manning, John Manning, Keith Phillips, Trent Stroud, Ryan Walker and Robert Douglas.

The body will lie in state at 5:30 p.m. on Sun., June 21, at Foreman Funeral Home and at the church 30 minutes prior to services.
