Pilots for Christ recently received the largest contribution in the organization’s 21-year history.
Rosalyn Sales, public relations director for PFC, said the group received a very generous contribution from the Solon and Martha Dixon Foundation on Wed., June 12.
“It is an honor to be selected by such a distinguished foundation as the Dixon Foundation,” Sales said. “The board of directors is well-known for doing its due diligence in selecting their recipients, and that is why it’s such an honor for us to receive this gift.”
Pilots for Christ provides specialized aviation transportation for medical care. Alabama’s only chapter is based in Monroeville.
Sales said the organization’s goal is to promote the gospel of Jesus Christ through serving individuals and families in need of time-critical transportation, who are physically unable to travel by other means. Patients are never charged for the services provided.
As well as transporting ambulatory patients and caregivers, PFC transports ministers and missionaries, and medical and humanitarian supplies in times of disaster.
Sales said the gift from the Solon and Martha Dixon Foundation will help many people, and make sure the organization thrives. At present, Pilots for Christ also is raising money to update its aircraft.
“We praise God for their support,” Sales said.
