The Opp City Council on Monday took action to clean up the city.
For nearly three years, the council had made it a priority to abate properties that it considers a public nuisance.
Monday’s properties were for cleanup purposes only, Mayor John Bartholomew said.
The property owners will have 30 days after mailing of the notice to remedy the nuisance.
The costs incurred in the abatement, including administrative costs, assessed against the property and charged to the owner, unless the owner requests a hearing before the city council within 30 days.
Properties abated were:
• 104 Hughes St.;
• 606 W. Covington Ave.;
• 305 Rush St.;
• 305 Dry St.; and
• 308 2nd St.
