Two have been arrested on multiple charges and one is still at large after a trio allegedly beat a victim with a broom handle and fists before stealing a computer and cell phone from a Barnes Street residence in Opp.

Opp Assistant Chief Kevin Chance said the police department responded to a reported burglary and assault at 1005 Barnes St. on Sunday.

“According to a witness and the victim, one male and two females forcibly entered a residence and while within, the trio assaulted the victim with a broom handle and their fists,” Chance said. “Before leaving, they stole a computer and cell phone from within the residence.”

On the day of the alleged burglary and assault, the victim identified the three suspects, Chance said.

Chance said after a primary investigation was conducted, Malik Cornell Sullivan Carr, 19, of Andalusia, and Lashaundria Toshae Russell, 20, of Repton, were arrested and charged with burglary II, assault III and theft of property III.

Chance said the third suspect — Brandy Nicole Jackson, 30, of Bay Minette — is at large at this time. Jackson is a black female, 5-foot-2, weighs 168 pounds, has brown eyes and black hair.

Those with information as to Jackson’s whereabouts need to contact the OPD at 334-493-4511 ext. 3.

Chance said the case remains under investigation by the OPD.
