2 Andy men charged for trafficking

Lee County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested two Andalusia men Thursday morni-ng on drug trafficking charges in Auburn, according to reports.

Thomas Jeffery Meeks, 49, was arrested and charged with drug trafficking methamphetamine and possession of marijuana I.

Todd Jay Dearden, 48, was arrested and charged with drug trafficking methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a concealed weapon.

Both are being held in the Lee County Detention Facility on a $53,000 bond.

According to The Opelika-Auburn News, Lee County Sheriff’s investigators executed a traffic stop on a 1993 Mitsubishi Eclipse that was traveling south on Interstate 85 near exit 51 in Auburn for improper lane usage, and a search of the vehicle and its occupants led to the recovery of a handgun, marijuana and ICE methamphetamine.

The methamphetamine weighed more than 180 grams and has an estimated street value of $18,000.
