The Covington Arts Council invites young vocalists and thespians to participate in the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of “Red Riding Hood” in September.

CAC Executive Director Paula Harr said the production is a very different version of the classic story – in this one, Red Riding Hood is a teenager with an attitude, and she has a posse.

“It’s my all-time favorite Missoula production,” she said. “The last time we did it was in 2005.”

The production is open to students from first grade through high school, and includes speaking and singing roles.

Based in Missoula, Mont., the MCT sends professional actor/directors to communities to audition and cast 50 to 60 local school children in a full-length, original musical production.

CAC executive director Paula Harr said auditions for students in first through 12th grades will be held beginning at 3:15 sharp on Mon., Sept. 14, at the Dixon Center on the Andalusia campus of LBW. Rehearsals will be scheduled each afternoon, and the public performance is set for 6 p.m. on Fri., Sept. 18.

There is no need to prepare for auditions, Harr said.

“Students need to be able to speak loudly and clearly and to follow directions,” she said.
