Those interested in seeing the newest Christian film set to hit theaters next week can do so for free, if they come out to the Clark Theater on Thurs., Aug. 27, and Sat., Aug. 29, at select times.

Two area churches and the Covington Baptist Association has sponsored 200 tickets for each showing of “War Room.”

“The way we are going to do it, so that it is fair, is that it will be on a first-come, first-serve basis,” said Marty Holley, associate director of missions for the CBA. “I’ve had some people email me asking to hold them, but we want it to be fair.”

Holley said the CBA board voted to supply 200 tickets and two area churches purchased 100 each.

“We want to promote the movie,” he said. “That’s why we are doing this.”

Last month, Red Oak Baptist Church Pastor Mark Perry took the reins to bring the movie to Andalusia.

“War Room,” is the highly anticipated fifth film from Alex and Stephen Kendrick, the makers of “Fireproof,” “Courageous,” “Facing the Giants” and “Flywheel.”

Perry said then he wanted believers and non-believers to see the movie.

“It’s important for believers to support Christian films,” he said. “That’s one of the reasons for doing this.”

Perry also didn’t want people to have to drive out of town and he wanted those who were not able to travel to have the opportunity to see the movie, he said.

The movie is described as a compelling drama with humor and heart that explores the power that prayer can have on marriage, parenting, careers, friendship and every other areas of people’s lives.

The plot centers on Tony and Elizabeth Jordan, a married couple, who from the outside appear they have it all – great jobs, a beautiful daughter and a dream house. But appearances can be deceiving. Their marriage is failing. A new client challenges Elizabeth to use a war room, but will it change their life?

Admission times are Aug. 27 at 7 p.m., and Aug. 29 at 4:30 p.m.
