Calling all elementary school artists.

The Andalusia Area Humane Society is looking for entries for its countywide animal art contest for kindergarten through sixth grade students.

Debra Evans of the AAHS said that the organization really wants to get plenty of drawings from kids.

“We had one last year during the Three Notch Market Festival, but decided to incorporate it with our Doggie Dash Day since it will be at our location,” she said.

Entries will be judged and displayed at the AAHS at 411 Pearl St. on Sept. 12, with first, second and third place ribbon winners being chosen from each grade level.

A people’s choice award will be chosen form the first, second and third place ribbon winners and be featured on the AAHS 2016 “Be Kind to Animals” T-shirt design.

Voting will begin on Doggie Dash Day and will end Sat., Oct. 10, with the winner being the entry that receives the most 25- cent votes.

Deadline to enter is Sept. 4.

Submitted entries must be original artwork, on an 8.5 x 11 sized paper and drawn with pens, paint, crayons and markers.

Limit the drawing to five colors.

Entries may be dropped off or mailed to the Andalusia Area Humane Society, 411 Pearl St., Andalusia, AL 36420 or be dropped off at Andalusia Animal Clinic, Jones Veterinary Hospital or Walker Veterinary Services in Opp.

Be sure to include student’s name, address and zip code, phone number and school name, teacher’s name and grade level.
