Lamere, Gutter to marry

Ms. Lynn Brown Lamere of Dothan, and Mr. Matthew C. Lamere of Dothan, announce the engagement of their daughter, Samantha Lee, to Mr. James Marcel Gutter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Ward of Durham, N.C., and Dr. Guido Peter Gutter of Evansville, Ind.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. Sammy Brown of Andalusia, and the late Bobbie Brown, and Mrs. Patricia Lamere of Atlanta, Ga., and the late Robert P. Lamere.

Miss Lamere is a 2007 graduate of Houston Academy. She graduated magna cum laude from Auburn University in 2011, where she earned a bachelor of arts in political science. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority and president of the Panhellenic Council. In May 2015, she graduated from the Peabody College of Vanderbilt University with a master of education in higher education administration with a focus in education policy. She currently works for the Honorable Bill Haslam, governor of Tennessee, as education policy analyst.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mrs. Franz Berlacher and the late Dr. Berlacher of Toledo, Ohio, and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gutter of Zurich, Switzerland.

Mr. Gutter is a 2007 graduate of Durham Academy. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2011, where he earned a bachelor of science in economics and public policy. He received his master of education in instructional practice from Lipscomb University in 2013. He is currently employed at Valor Collegiate Academy in Nashville, Tenn., as a middle school math teacher and grade level coach.

The couple met as corps members for Teach for America in 2011.

The wedding is planned for 5 in the evening on Sat., Oct. 3, 2015, at the Cedar Arbor of Green Door Gourmet Farm in Nashville.
