JACQUELINE SWANN GANTT

Mrs. Jacqueline “Jackie” Swann Gantt, 90, of Andalusia, passed away Thurs., Aug. 20, 2015, at her residence.

Mrs. Gantt was born in Moss Point, Miss. on May 1, 1925, to William David and Fleeta Hudson Swann. In her freshman year of college her family moved to Mobile, Ala. She was a graduate of Auburn University in 1947 and a member of Chi Omega sorority. After graduating, she moved home to Mobile, where she taught school and married Dr. Davis L. Gantt. They soon moved to Andalusia.

Mrs. Jackie retired from Andalusia City Schools where she taught social studies at Andalusia Middle School. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Ann Chapman Sunday School class. She was also a charter member of Coterie Club of Andalusia and a long time member of Cynosure Club.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Sat., Aug. 22, at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 – 10 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Charles D. and Jean Gantt of Andalusia; grandchildren, Chase Gantt of Andalusia, Camille Gantt of Atlanta, Ga., and Grayson Gantt of Andalusia; and sister-in-law, Bobbie Swann of Mobile.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Davis L. Gantt; son, William Worth Gantt; brother, W.D. Swann, Jr.; and sister, Marilyn S. Bishop.
