Rainfall totals down locally

Rainfall totals collected at Yellow River on Hwy. 55 show the county has received 12 inches less rain than in the same period last year.
The Choctawhatchee, Pea and Yellow Rivers Watershed Management Authority recorded 2.76 inches of rain in Covington County at Hwy. 55 on Yellow River during August. There were 2.66 inches of rain in the same period last year.
Year to date, 34.26 inches of rain have been recorded in that spot, compared to 46.50 inches for the same period last year.
The Choc-Pea Authority recorded 6.95 inches of rain at the Yellow River on Hwy. 84 during August. The Choc-Pea Authority started collecting rainfall totals there earlier this year.
