The Straughn Tigers (1-2, 1-1) went hit the road Friday night and picked up their first win of the season with a 25-14 victory over the Headland Rams.

The game went back and forth the entire game before Straughn took an 18-14 lead late in the fourth quarter.

With under three minutes left in the game, the Rams began to march down the field and threated to take the lead back.

Straughn’s Matt Worley made a huge play on a screen pass that he read the whole way. Just before the quarterback released the ball, Worley broke hard to the receiver and delivered a punishing hit 2 yards behind the line of scrimmage.

Shortly after, the Tigers found the end zone again to give them a 25-14 victory.

Calls to Straughn head coach Chris Wilson for more details on the victory went unanswered and unreturned.
