New Huddle House coming

Those craving a Huddle House fix will have to wait a few weeks.
The building was torn down Monday after officials emptied the place.
“We’re going to come back with all new equipment and decorations,” said Patty Hughes of Huddle House.
Talks of a new establishment have been ongoing for more than a year, she said.
The wait will be worth it, though, for those who know the long lines and the tight space of the former building.
“It’s going to bigger,” she said. “We will be able to seat 100 people rather than only 70.”
Hughes said that they are excited about being able to feed more people.
“We also hope to employ a few more people,” she said. “More jobs here is always a good thing.”
Hughes said the manager will be doing some heavy interviewing next week, but that they plan to keep their same staff, while adding a few more.
They will be taking applications and interviews on Sept. 24, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., at the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce.
“This has been a long time coming,” she said. “We needed to grow a little bit. We expanded and added a few more tables a few years ago, but we just keep growing.”
Hughes said they are still discussing what the hours of operation will be once the new restaurant opens.
“Our target date for reopening is Oct. 6,” she said.
