National Night Out set for Oct. 6

There will be face painting, bounce houses, a karaoke contest, giveaways and balloons when the Andalusia Police Department hosts the National Night Out from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tues., Oct. 6.

This is the APD’s second year to sponsor a National Night Out event, designed to promote community awareness, safety and to lead the city in the fight against crime. Participants will have an opportunity to meet local first responders and receive valuable information for keeping their homes and property safe.

The event is free, but concessions will be available.

Other agencies participating include the Andalusia Fire Department, 22nd Judicial Drug Task Force, Covington County Sheriff’s Office, Covington County IRT, Covington County DA”s office, Covington County E911 and the Covington County EMA.

The APD expressed its thanks to the City of Andalusia, Space Walk of Andalusia, Gitty UP N Go, Andalusia Tire Co., Advanced EMS, Pepsi of Luverne, McClain Contracting and the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce for their assistance.
