Dorothy Ann Colvin

Mrs. Dorothy Ann Colvin, age 67, of Red Level passed away Mon., Sept. 28, 2015, at Baptist South.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thurs., Oct. 1, 2015, in the Keahey Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Donald Williamson and the Rev. Mark Sims will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mt. Carmel cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight, Wed., Sept. 30, 2015, in the Keahey Funeral Home chapel.

Survivors include her sons, Chris (Cindy) Colvin of Red Level, Frankie (Amy) Colvin of Red Level, and Marty (Lisa) Colvin of Rose Hill; brothers, Gordon (Judy) Pittman of Greenville, Ala., Larry Pittman of Red Level, Mack Pittman of Red Level, and Mark (Lennora) Pittman of Red Level; his grandchildren, Hannah and Hailey Colvin, Daegan and Jarin Fowler, Tanner Cheshire and Ben Jackson.

Mrs. Dot was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. Colvin in 1991.

Pallbearers will be Carrel Bush, Michael Pittman, Terry Leddon, John Sims, Pete Lee and Caleb Richards. Honorary pallbearers are James Kelley and Hayward Dubose.

Emmett Cleveland Gunter

Mr. Emmett Cleveland Gunter, age 72, of Opp died on Fri., Sept. 25, at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Gunter will be held today, Wed., Sept. 30, 2015, at 2 p.m. from the Foreman Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ed Ganus will officiate. Interment will be in the Harmony Cemetery.

Mr. Gunter is survived by his wife, Lois Gunter of Opp; two daughters, Angela Lynn Bennett and Deborah Carol Elmore, both of Andalusia; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jan (Don) Hartman of Loxley, Ala., and Judy (Junior) Hensley) of Opp; a brother, Odis Ray (Reda) Gunter of Andalusia, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Nannie Belle Gunter; son, Christopher Gunter; and two daughters, Melissa Gunter and Dawn Gunter.

Pallbearers will be Jory Perkins, Isaiah Perkins, Tony Meeks, John Wheeler, Troyce Gunter and Russell Gunter.

The family would also like to thank his nephew, Jory Perkins, for the love and care he gave to Mr. Gunter.

Pluma W. Moore

Mrs. Pluma W. Moore, 99, of River Falls, passed away Fri., Sept. 25, 2015.

Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Sun., Sept. 27, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jim Walker officiating. Interment followed in River Falls Cemetery.

Special music was provided by her nieces and nephews, Mark and Cynthia Gunter, Larry and Patricia Gunter, and Judy Capps.

She is survived by a sister, Lytress Allen of Monticello, Miss.; a brother and sister-in-law, Bertrum and Gloria Pierce of Andalusia; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Glen Moore; eight siblings, Willie Mae Thomasson, Opal Faulk, Ernesteen Gunter, Barbara Jackson, Obieree Riley, James Pierce, Harold Pierce, and Royce Pierce.

Pallbearers were Terry Pierce, Wayne Pierce, Vince Pierce, Lane Pierce, Lamar Thomasson, Andy Riley, and Michael Riley.

John Daniel Fowler

John Daniel Fowler, 66, of Lockhart passed away Fri., Sept., 25, 2015.

He was born August 10, 1949, in Covington County to Woodrow Wilson Fowler and Eva Mae Bradley Fowler. JD served his church and community through his music. The stories are endless of the many people he helped by organizing benefits to assist in their needs. Family was important to him. He loved spending time with his children and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He relished being their “PawPaw.” JD was an active member of The First Assembly of God Church in Florala for many years and his faith in Jesus Christ sustained him as he bravely fought cancer. He served as an inspiration to all who knew him. He fought the good fight. He kept the faith. He finished the race.

He was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Wilson Fowler; and mother, Eva Mae Bradley Fowler.

He is survived by his son, Danny Fowler of Andalusia; daughters, Jackie (Troy) Rushing of DeFuniak Springs, and Dana (Mark) Wilson and Carrie (Anthony) Butts, both of Opp; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Gwen Gomillion of Lockhart; and brother, Lester (Diana) Fowler of Vero Beach, Fla.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Mon., Sept. 28, from the First Assembly of God Church in Florala with the Rev. Ray Bundy officiating. Interment was in Stone Lake Cemetery in Andalusia.
