The Opp Lady Bobcats (13-12) fell to T.R. Miller in the Class 3A, Area 2 volleyball area championship on Tuesday in Brewton, but secured second place and a spot in the South Super Regionals in Montgomery.

Opp opened up the area tournament with a 3-0 sweep of Hillcrest-Evergreen. The win secured a playoff spot for the Lady Bobcats.

Millicent Nolen led the Lady Bobcats against Hillcrest-Evergreen with six kills.

Amber Hadley picked up five aces, Courtney Osborn had five digs and Haylee Brundidge notched seven assists.

In the area championship game against T.R. Miller, the Lady Bobcats were swept by the Lady Tigers 3-0.

Maggie Short had a strong showing in the championship match with 16 digs. Nolen added six more kills and six blocks. Bailee Boyd was the assist leader for the Lady Bobcats with 11.

The Lady Bobcats finish as area runner-up and will play 3A, Area 7 champion, Indian Springs, Friday at 10:15 a.m., in the first round of the South Super Regionals in Montgomery.

The South Super Regionals are being held at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl Court.
