Arline Meadows Curenton

Mrs. Arline Meadows Curenton, 95, of Andalusia, passed away Thurs., Oct. 22, 2015, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Mon., Oct. 26, 2015, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Gary Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Gordon Helms of Andalusia; son and daughter-in-law, David and Rita Curenton of Fairhope; grandchildren, Ken (Wanda) Helms of Opp, Lisa Waldhour of Andalusia, Christie (John) Stuckey of Simms, Scott (Jen) Curenton of Fairhope, Lori (Bo) Fuqua of Andalusia, and Stuart (Christy) Curenton of Fairhope; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Althea Maddox of Stockbridge, Ga.; sister-in-law, Kathleen Meadows of Huntsville, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by husband, Earl Curenton; sisters, Annie Ruth Eilers, Agnus Stedman, and Lynette Carroll; and brothers, A.B. “Jr.” Meadows and Burl Meadows.

Pallbearers will include Ken Helms, Bo Fuqua, Scott Curenton, Stuart Curenton, Alex Waldhour, and Matthew Waldhour.

Sandra Faye Rolling

Sandra Faye Rolling of Andalusia, Ala., passed away Oct. 21, 2015, on a beautiful fall day at the Andalusia Regional Hospital following a long illness. Mrs. Rolling was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved flowers, feeding her birds, and loved spending time with her family. Mrs. Rolling was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil M. Rolling, and her son, Larry Wayne Rolling.

She is survived by daughter, Gail and Mike Aplin of Marbury, Ala.; daughter, Patricia and Didge Lawson of Pleasant Home; son, Jerry and Rosa Rolling of Troy; daughter, Sandra and Dale Martin of Andalusia; son, Terry and Peggy Rolling of Grove Hill; son, Philip and Hope Rolling of Rome, Ga.; and daughter, Donna and Todd Sasser of Rose Hill. She has 24 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Foreman-Brown Funeral Home will provide public viewing from 5: 30 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thurs., Oct. 22, 2015.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Fri., Oct. 23, 2015, at Foreman Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Boles and

Bro. Bobby Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Barbara Sorrells

Mrs. Barbara Sorrells, age 62, of Red Level passed away Wed., October 22, 2015, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Fri., Oct. 23, 2015 in the Keahey Funeral Home chapel.

The Rev. Glen Tatum will officiate. Interment will follow in the Fairmount Baptist Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, James Sorrells of Red Level; children, Tammy Ford of Mobile, Melissa Barbarow of Andalusia, Angie Dunnigan of Brooklyn, Phillip Sorrells of Red Level, and Phylis Smith of Bradenton, Fla.; her step- children, Judy Watson of Florala, Albert Sorrells of Florala,

Brenda Henderson of Laural Hill, Fla., Joyce Wixiey of Opp, and William Sorrells of Bradenton, Fla.; her sisters, Linda Pouncey of Andalusia and Anita Blackwell of Red Level; 31 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Sorrells was preceded in death by her father and mother, Boney Neal, Jr. and Inez Neal; sisters, Ann Walker and Francis Burgans; her son, Jessie James Sorrells; and her brother, James Neal, Jr.

Pallbearers will be William Sorrells, Albert Sorrells, Michael Kyser, Justin Geiger and Randy Sasser.

 

Dorothy Martin Simpler

Mrs. Dorothy Martin Simpler, born Aug. 13, 1927, passed away on Mon., Oct. 19, 2015.

Funeral services were held Thurs., Oct. 22, 2015, at Cedar Grove Church of Christ on Brooklyn Road. Foreman Funeral Home directed. Minister Jeff Grimes officiated the service with interment following in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Simpler proudly served her community as a Red Cross Gray Lady hospital volunteer and a longtime member of the Andalusia Pilot Club. She was a founding member of the South Three Notch Church of Christ (now Central) and was a current member of Cedar Grove Church of Christ. She was the manager of Baxter’s Shoe Store in downtown Andalusia until its closing.

She was the loving wife of Fred Simpler from June 1949 until his death in August 2013.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Simpler Black and her husband, Dennis, of Jasper; a son, Miland Fredrick Simpler, Jr. and wife, Lyn, of Birmingham, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; sisters, Myrtle (Joe) Stowers of Greenville, and Louise Lepore of Bedford, N.Y.; a brother, Horace Martin of Greenville; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Pall bearers were B.J. McClain, Jimmy Prestwood, Thagard Colvin, Ronnie Dixon, Mac Bracewell and Larry Harrison.

She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Fred Simpler, Sr., and her parents, H.D. and Ola Beverly Martin.
