Bobcats claw Cottage Hill on road

The Bobcats (6-3, 4-2) finished up region play against Cottage Hill in Mobile.

Opp scored first halfway through the opening quarter when Orlando Lacey hit Greg House for a 44-yard strike.

The Bobcats scored often in the second quarter.

A pair of 37 yard runs by Reggie Thompson and then by Raheem Bonam put Opp abead 22-0 just before the half.

On the final play of the second quarter, Lacey passed to Bonam who ran through the Warrior’s defense for 91 yards and a 30-0 halftime lead.

Four minutes into the third quarter, Opp scored with Bonam going in from 8 yards out.

Thompson scored the final touchdown for the Bobcats on a 67-yard run for a 43-0 score.

Cottage Hill pushed across a score late in the game as Opp won 43-7.

Thompson has five carries for 147 yards and a touchdown; Bonam had eight carries for 96 yards and two touchdowns.

Lacey was 3-of-6 for 141 yards, two touchdowns and threw one interception.

Greg House had two catches for 50 yards and a touchdown, and Bonam had one catch for 91 yards and touchdown.

On the defense, Devontae Williams and Tramequez Lane had nine tackles, Ty’Keenan White had seven tacks and Evan King had four tackles, one sack and a 10-yard fumble recovery.

“I was glad to see us bounce back and play better fundamentally,” head coach Brent Hill said. “Look forward to building on our fundamentals of blocking and tackling this week.”
