Opp Police are investigating a Thursday stabbing in the Lunsford Mobile Home Park.

The incident occurred Thursday morning around 6.

OPD Chief Mike McDonald said that upon arrival, officers conducted a search and located Charles Junior Stallings, 30, of Opp, lying in the woods about 200 yards west of the mobile home park.

Stallings had been stabbed once.

McDonald said that OPD officers and Opp Fire Department members evacuated Stallings from the wooded area and took him to Mizell Memorial Hospital emergency room by ambulance.

Several individuals were detained for investigative purposes, McDonald said.

“OPD investigators and agents from the 22nd Judicial Drug Task Force executed two search warrants during the investigation of the stabbing incident resulting in the arrest of Cody Estes, a 22-year-of-age male resident of Opp for the unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and Thomas Smith, a 23-year-of-age male resident of Opp for unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia,” McDonald said.

OPD continues to investigate the stabbing.

Stallings’ injuries were not life threatening, McDonald said.
