Betty Sue Miller Baker

Mrs. Betty Sue Miller Baker, 83, of the Straughn community, passed away Tues., Nov. 10, 2015, at her residence.

Funeral services were held Thurs., Nov. 12, from the Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Robert Bradley officiating. Interment followed at Macedonia Cemetery in Rose Hill.

She is survived by her husband, Curtis Baker; her son and daughter-in-law, Ashley and Cheryl Baker of Birmingham; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angie and Wayne Sasser of Andalusia, and Linda Gail and Dewayne Jeter of Huntsville; eight grandchildren, Meghan Sasser, Jeremy Sasser, Hannah Crow, Riley Livingston, Lindsay Wright, Robby Coats, Curtis Jeter, and Kyle Jeter; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Byron Miller of Augusta, Ga; and one sister, Sara McLendon of Andalusia.

Pallbearers were Curtis Jeter, Kyle Jeter, Wesley Wright, Robby Coats, Tommy Baker, and Jeremy Sasser.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Comfort Care Hospice.

Mary Ross Boyd

Mary Ross Boyd, 89, passed away Nov. 10, 2015, at Glencove Health and Rehabilitation Center, Panama City, Fla. Funeral services will be Sat., Nov. 14, 2015, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Louisville, Ala., at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Curtis Rich and Dr. John Friedman officiating; Keahey Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. in the sanctuary

Mrs. Boyd lived in Albany, Ga., until age 5, when after her father’s death, she and her mother moved to Louisville, Ala. She attended Louisville High School and the University of Montevallo. She enjoyed reading, music and church. She played piano and organ at Louisville United Methodist Church and Mt. Zion Baptist Church, taught Sunday School, and was a member of Pea River Presbyterian Church’s women’s circle. She was a loving, kind, beautiful and dignified woman who loved her family, taught her children Christian values, and was loved and respected by all who knew her.

Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Henderson; son, Jim Shirley, and daughter-in-law, Joan Shirley. She is survived by her husband, John Boyd, Louisville, Ala.; children, John Shirley (Janet), Biloxi, Miss., Douglas Shirley, Fountain, Fla., Sandy Boyd (Stephanie), Andalusia, and Beth Pribbenow (Rob), Panama City, Fla.; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
