Thomas J. “Tommy” Morrison, Sr.

Thomas J. “Tommy” Morrison, Sr., 76, of Gantt, Ala., passed away on Nov. 10, 2015. He was a native of Statesville, N.C., lived in the Milton-Pace area, and moved to Holley in 1958. He has resided in Gantt for the past 20 years.

Tommy retired from McDonald Mechanical Company in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Violet A. and Edward R. Green, and two grandchildren, Rebecca Morrison and Thomas “T-Bone” Morrison.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Shirley Pruitt Morrison; daughter, Tina (Gary) Stephens; three sons, Tommy Joe “TJ” (Cathy) Morrison, Presley Morrison, and Jamie (Nicole) Morrison; 13 grandchildren; and 25 ½ great-grandchildren.

Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton, 6539 Trammel Dr., Milton is in charge of local arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until memorial service begins at 6 p.m. on Mon., Nov. 16, 2015, at the funeral home with Wayne and Angie Blocker officiating.

 

James R. “Snag” Summerlin

James R. “Snag” Summerlin, 94, died Fri., Nov. 13, at his residence.

He is survived by the love of his life, Frances Ptomey; sister, Lottie V. Brewer; sister-in-law, Joyce Summerlin; step-son, Richard Schell and wife Brenda; step-daughter, Melissa Schell McMahon and husband Roland; step-grandchildren, Nicole Schell Horton (Kris), Holly Schell Thompson (Matthew), and Ryan Schell; two step-great-grandchildren, Kalliham and Ty Schell; nieces Connie Brewer, Shelia Yarnell and Brenda Fowler; nephews, Wilson Summerlin (Tish), Joel Summerlin, Jeffery Summerlin and John Edward Summerlin.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Mon., Nov. 16, 2015, at Evans Funeral Home in Florala with visitation from 10 a.m. until funeral time at 11. Burial will be in the Clear Springs cemetery.
