Relay for Life sets $100K, 20-team goals

Organizers are making plans for April’s Relay for Life event and the public’s help is needed.

Randi Bozeman, publications/team ambassador, said that this year’s goal is $100,000 and 20 teams.

“Our theme this year is Festivals Around the World,” she said.

The event will be held on April 22, 2016, at the Kiwanis Fairgrounds.

A meeting will be held tonight at 6 p.m., at the Holiday Inn Express.

Upcoming Relay for Life fundraisers include:

• Andalusia Regional Hospital’s team will hold a chili cook-off on Fri., Nov 20. $1 donations will give participants a taste of each entry, and bowls can be purchased for $3.

• The Relay for Life pageant set for Jan. 9, at the LBWCC Martha and Solon Dixon Center for Performing Arts.

The first three pageant categories will begin at 2 p.m., the second will begin at 4 p.m., and the last two at 6 p.m. The admission fee is $5. Applications for the pageant are due on Dec. 30.

• A softball tournament will be held March 12. Details will be announced in the future.
