An Opp City School bus was totaled when it was struck by a vehicle during an accident on Oct. 21.
Superintendent Michael Smithart recommended that the board purchase a new bus to replace the one lost and replenish its fleet. It is expected the bus will cost between $74,000 and $75,000.
The insurance company gave the system $33,000 for the bus.
The 72-passenger bus will be financed through Southern Independent Bank.
The system receives around $5,800 per bus in fleet renewal money.
Smithart said they were also in the process of preparing specs for two additional buses and a special needs bus.
