Sponsors are needed to take care of the health care needs of animals at the Andalusia Animal Shelter.
Christin Ball, director of the AAS, said that she is soliciting angels for some 25 animals at the shelter.
“It covers the spaying and neutering, vaccinations and worming,” she said. “This will guarantee a pet a home.”
Ball said that the sponsors will have their names attached to the pets unless they ask to donate anonymously.
“We will put the pets in a picture frame on the Christmas tree and their names will be attached to the trees,” she said. Sponsorships are $100.
Ball said those who wish to donate more than $100 will enable them to do more such as heart worm testing and flea prevention.
“People can go in together in the support,” she said. “Businesses or individuals are welcome to support this cause. This will help our animals get homes quicker.”
Ball said the donations are tax deductible.
Ball said they will have an adoption day on Dec. 19.
“It will run all day,” she said. “We will start a 9 and run until all the pets are gone.”
Ball said they discourage pets as presents for the holidays.
“That’s not what we are about,” she said. “People can foster a pet. It doesn’t’ have to be an adoption.”
The cost for the adoptions will be $62 and under.
“The adoption will include everything including spay and neutering,” she said. “They will receive goody bags with everything they need when they adopt.”
Ball said they have every kind of dog from small dogs and puppies to lots and lots of labs.
“And there’s no telling what we will have by then,” she said.
