Mrs. Gercile Spears, age 79, of Opp passed away Thurs., Nov. 26, 2015. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced at a later time by Keahey Funeral Home

ANNIE R. BALLARD

Mrs. Annie R. Ballard, 63, of Andalusia passed away Wed., Nov. 25, 2015 at the Andalusia nursing home. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Sat., Nov. 28, 2015 at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Frankie McVay will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Marcus Pete Ballard of Andalusia; one son, Marcus “Bubba” Ballard of Troy; one daughter, Lynn Thurman of Enterprise; one brother, Willie (Mary) Kennedy of Lakeland, Fla.; one sister, Shirley Kennedy of Phenix City, Ala.; grandchildren, Kayla (Bradley) Lee of Red Level, and Sandy “Bobo” McVay of Gantt.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Missy Ballard in 2008.

Serving as pallbearers will be Wesley Boyd, Bobo McVay, Bubba Ballard, Sandy “Bobo” McVay and Bradley Lee.

 

WILLIE MAE WELLS

Willie Mae Wells, age 92, took her heavenly flight on Tues., Nov. 24. She was surrounded by those she loved, as she saw the face of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Ms. Wells was born in Rutledge, Ala., May 11, 1923, to George Edward Stephens and Jessie Lee Clark Stephens. After moving to Covington County as a small child, she remained a resident there for all but one year of her life. Ms. Wells was well known for her sewing talent. She retired from the Singer Company in 1985, after 20 years of faithful service. Shortly after retirement, she opened her own business, Willie Mae’s Cut and Sew, and continued her love of sewing for nearly wo decades. In addition to her passion for sewing, Ms. Wells was known for her cooking skills and green thumb. She could grow anything. While her passions were dear to her, her deep love was for her children and grandchildren. Her most prized accomplishment in life was her title of mother. She was the most selfless mother a child could have. She put her children above self, always. She was a life member of Order of the Eastern Star and member of Southside Baptist Church.

Ms. Wells was preceded in death by her husband, Thurmon Wells; son, Harlon Wells; and grandchildren, Charlene and Stephen. She is survived by her daughter, Amelia Wells Klosowsky; beloved son-in-law, Richard Klosowsky; a brother, Robert Stephens; and son, Paul, seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, two very special family members, Bellinda Wells, and niece, Shona Hall. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

A celebration of life service will be held on Sun., Nov. 29, 2015, at 2 p.m. from the Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Gary Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Stone Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be in the chapel one hour prior to services.

Pallbearers will be Gary Bajzik, Tim Stephens, Matt Stephens, nephews, Mark Harper, Larry Crosby (neighbor and friend), and Richard Klosowsky (son-in-law). There will be music by Mrs. Vandalyn Maddox, pianist, and Elisha Kuhn, soloist. There also will be a special time for sharing precious memories of Willie Mae Wells and her life during her celebration. The family asks for anyone who wishes to share a memory, to please do.
