Heavy rainfall in November pushed the year-to-date average higher than last year in Covington County.

The Choctawhatchee, Pea and Yellow Rivers Watershed Management Authority recorded 11.72 inches of rain at Yellow River on Hwy. 55 in November. That’s 10 inches more than was recorded there last year, when only 1.44 inches of rain fell.

That heavy rain brought the year-to-date average higher than last year for the first time this year. The Choc-Pea Authority has recorded 58.70 inches of rain at Yellow River in 2015, compared to 56.06 for the same period last year.

The Choc-Pea Authority also began monitoring rainfall at Yellow River on Hwy. 84 this year. They recorded 11.39 inches of rain there in November, and 53.20 inches in the 10 months they’ve monitored rainfall there this year. However, there are no comparison numbers from last year.
