Mizell Memorial Hospital is preparing for its annual “Tree of Lights and Love.”

Marketing Director Kristen Averitt said that it’s a good way to remember loved ones.

“Applications to purchase ornaments, to honor or in memory of loved ones, may be picked up at the Opp Chamber of Commerce, Fred’s Pharmacy, Larry’s Prescriptions, Mizell’s switchboard and from any member of the auxiliary,” she said.

Averitt said a silk Christmas tree will be locate din the lobby of the hospital.

“The name of your loved one will be written on an ornament hanging on the tree,” she said.

Additionally, an acknowledgement with Christmas greeting will be sent to the person honored informing them a donation was made in their name. If a memorial, the card will be sent to the family.

Cost is $5 for each ornament and they are tax-deductible.

Proceeds made through the fundraiser will go to help enhance the hospital or to other Mizell Memorial Hospital Auxiliary projects.

“We appreciate your past contribution to this project in honor or memory of your loved one,” she said. “We thank you for your continued support and especially invite you to attend the tree lighting ceremony.”

A special tree lighting ceremony will be held on Sun., Dec. 6, at 2 p.m., in the hospital’s lobby.
