Final plans for the Depot project in Opp are in Washington, D.C., awaiting federal approval.

In September, City Planner Jason Bryan said he hoped the restoration project would get under way by spring.

The city has received a $500,000 grant through the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP).

The project will be able to begin within 45 days of final approval, and bids must be advertised statewide.

The grant requires a 20 percent match from the city.

Mayor John Bartholomew said Monday night that there is a plan have a stage at the Depot to create activity downtown.
