Straughn Elementary plans Christmas program Tuesday night

Straughn Elementary School is in the Christmas spirit.

School Counselor Mandi Morris said that students and teachers have gone all out this Christmas season.

Decorating the hallways, doors with different themes.

“We wanted to spread the Christmas spirit, with all that is going on negatively in the world,” she said.

Each grade has decorated in a certain theme, from the North Pole to the Polar Express, to the Nutcracker and the Grinch.

A music program at the school has started again, and students will present a Christmas music program on Tuesday.

“Thank you to Mrs. Joy Sowards for all she is teaching our children about music,” Morris said. “You will be amazed and blessed by this performance.”

Morris said there will be a silent auction in the cafetorium on wooden Christmas trees and snowmen created by SES classes.

Morris said that students should wear Christmas colors and meet their teachers in their classrooms 15 minutes prior to their performance.

Pre-K through second grades will sing at 5:30 p.m., and third through fifth grades will sing at 6:30 p.m.
